Stockton: Possible temporary taste/scent change, water safe

Cal Water customers in Stockton may soon temporarily experience a different taste or scent to their water. The change is due to routine maintenance being performed by our wholesale purchased water supplier, which will require it to change its water source from New Melones Reservoir to Lake Hogan Reservoir. This work is expected to occur from October 11-27, after which our wholesale water supplier will transition back to New Melones Reservoir water.

Please be assured that the water is safe to drink. We rigorously monitor water quality to confirm that the water continues to meet all federal and state water quality standards set to protect public health.

In the meantime, if you experience any taste or scent issues, you can refrigerate an open pitcher of water, which will help the taste or scent dissipate. If you have any concerns, please contact us.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience during this time.
