Public Health Goals (PHGs) are non-enforceable goals established by the California Environmental Protection Agency that help water utilities monitor constituents of interest. Every three years, Cal Water prepares PHG reports for all of our water systems serving more than 10,000 connections.
These reports include, among other things, information on the best available method for reducing the constituent level and an estimate of the cost to install that treatment, if it is appropriate and feasible.
On August 4, 2025, at 11 a.m., Cal Water held a virtual public meeting to review the current PHG reports for our water systems. Scroll down to view the recording of that meeting.

Water Treatment
Cal Water doesn’t take a “one-size-fits-all” approach to water treatment; instead, we work diligently to identify the best, most cost-effective treatment required for each water source.

Water Quality Testing Labs
Cal Water conducts extensive water quality testing at its state-of-the-art laboratory at our sources and within the distribution system. However, we do not perform water quality tests in customers’ homes. If you have concerns regarding your home’s water, contact an accredited lab for more information.
