Cal Water is currently undertaking three infrastructure upgrades to enhance water system reliability and fire protection in Stockton. When completed this month, crews will have installed a total of about 12,000 feet of new water main to help strengthen the water system by increasing water transportation capacity, increasing water flow rate, and decreasing pressure loss incidents for residential customers and businesses in central Stockton.
“Ongoing upgrades to our water system are essential to maintaining the reliable service our customers and communities count on every day, while helping us keep long-term costs as affordable as possible,” said Craig Stevens, Stockton District Manager. “As Cal Water celebrates 100 years of service, we remain committed to investing responsibly in our infrastructure so we can continue delivering quality, service, and value now and for generations to come.”
Crews are installing 5,070 feet of water main and 99 new customer service lines along Monte Diablo Avenue, from Banner Avenue to San Juan Avenue; on the 1000 block of Victoria; on the 2000 block of Acacia Court; and on the 800-1000 blocks of Figueroa Street. Work is occurring Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Near the same vicinity, crews are installing 2,227 feet of main and replacing 50 customer service lines Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Carlton Avenue, from Shimizu Drive to Lucerne Avenue, and near the intersection of North Victoria to Monte Diablo. Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of August.
As crews complete these two infrastructure upgrades, they have been working to minimize any disruptions to traffic. Temporary asphalt will be applied until permanent paving is completed, which can be up to 30 days after project completion.
Also in central Stockton, crews recently completed the installation of another 4,660 feet of new main along:
- 300 West Harding Way to 500 East Harding Way
- 1400 North Monroe Street
- 1400 North Madison Street
- 1500 North Pacific Avenue
- 1400-1500 North Commerce Street
- 1400-1500 North Center Street
- 1400-1500 North El Dorado Street
- 1400-1500 North Hunter Street
- 1400-1500 North San Joaquin Street
- 1400-1500 North California Street
These upgrades are part of Cal Water’s ongoing commitment to responsibly invest in and maintain critical water infrastructure. Proactive improvements such as these help reduce future service interruptions, enhance fire protection, and continue providing safe, clean, reliable drinking water to the community.
