Three World War I veterans come back from the war. They have a vision to provide water to Americans heading out West. A century after turning their vision into reality, California Water Service celebrates delivering “Trust on Tap” for 100 years this year. From our humble beginnings in 1926 in four California communities, our company now provides safe, clean, reliable water to more than 2.1 million people.
How did we get here? At the outset, our investment in infrastructure was critical. It kept water and communities safe, and that priority will continue into the future so our customers can have safe, clean, reliable water for their everyday needs, special moments in life, and emergencies. Throughout our 100-year history, we’ve supported customers through storms, fires, earthquakes, and the pandemic. From the beginning, our leaders have kept customers top of mind, knowing that water plays such a significant role in people’s lives and communities.
We kicked off a year-long commemoration of our centennial anniversary virtually in January with the nearly 1,300 current employees who make it possible to provide safe and clean drinking water to our customers’ homes. Throughout the year, customers will also get the opportunity to join in the festivities at local community celebrations, where they can meet the dedicated professionals who serve them, learn more about their water service, have fun, and mark our century of service with us.
We invite you to learn more about Group’s century of moments—big and small—that have shaped the company’s history and legacy, plus find upcoming events near you, at 100years.calwatergroup.com.
Our 100-year journey would not have been possible without the vision of our founders, our teams of dedicated professionals over the decades, and our unwavering commitment to deliver on our promise of quality, service, and value to our customers, communities, and employees. It is truly an honor of a lifetime to celebrate what many companies never reach, our centennial anniversary.
