Summary: Crews conducting visual surveys of meters in the landslide area on January 20-21.
Current status: Work complete.
Cal Water is pleased to inform our landslide-area customers of an upcoming water infrastructure upgrade to support our customers in this area. In the next few months, we will undertake a project to replace customers’ water meters with smart meters. These smart meters, which use advanced metering infrastructure technology, have digital display registers, help quickly identify potential customer-side leaks, and allow you to monitor your water use online.
Before we begin, our crews must conduct a visual survey of customer meters. On January 20-21, Cal Water team members will be in the Portuguese Bend Community Association, Portuguese Bend Beach Club, and Seaview to capture existing meter boxes, lids, and meter information. We will not need to interrupt water service to conduct this work.
In advance of our work, we ask that you please remove any obstructions that may prevent access to your meter box, such as shrubbery or vehicles. No other action is needed on your part.
The smart meters will be an excellent tool and resource for our landslide-area customers to both quickly identify any leaks that may occur on your property and better understand your water use. You will be able to set alerts related to your water consumption through our partner app, EyeOnWater. We will be in touch with you with more details in the near future, as we prepare to make this upgrade. Thank you for your cooperation.
