PBCA-Wide Water Main Replacement Well Underway
Since the above-ground water main along Vanderlip Drive was completed and put into service in June, crews have been hard at work installing the 9,500 feet of above-ground main in the rest of the Portuguese Bend Community Association. As of July 25, 2024, crews have installed 2,150 feet of water main along Cinnamon, Narcissa, and Ginger Root. Crews will also continue to grade land and clear brush where needed ahead of the water main being installed. Separately, along the Vanderlip Trail, crews are finalizing work plans to install the concrete pillars needed to support the above-ground water main that will replace the existing main along the trail. We expect to have construction in full swing the first week of August.
Above-Ground Main Being Installed in Seaview
Materials have arrived for the above-ground water main extension along Exultant and Admirable drives, and crews started construction the week of July 22, 2024. Here, where land movement has recently increased again, crews are adding more above-ground main adjacent to the main previously installed in late 2023. The plans to replace the remaining water main in western Seaview (west of Schooner Drive) are nearing completion.
New Water Main to be Installed by and in Beach Club Area
Crews have also started construction of the new above-ground water main along Palos Verdes Drive South, between Seaview and Portuguese Bend Beach Club. The new main is being installed in the median, which will help reduce traffic impacts along PV Drive South. After this project is completed, crews will move to installing the new above-ground water main between PV Drive South and Yacht Harbor Drive in the Portuguese Bend Beach Club.
