Crews Continue Making Progress on PBCA Water Main Replacement

New above-ground water mainOver the past month, crews have been hard at work installing above-ground water main in the Portuguese Bend Community Association, with about 2,600 feet now installed—along with swing joints and pressure-reducing valves—as of August 23, 2024. New main installed along Ginger Root Lane and Narcissa Drive (west of Ginger Root) has already been pressure-tested, tested for water quality compliance, and put into service. Additional new main installed along Cinnamon Lane (between Ginger Root to just past Thyme Place) and on Thyme Place is currently undergoing pressure and water quality testing, and will be put into service after favorable test results are received—expected to be next week. Crews will be working along Narcissa Drive next. Along the Vanderlip Trail, crews are installing the concrete pillars needed to support the above-ground water main that will eventually replace the existing main along the trail.

Above-Ground Main Installations Underway in Seaview

Crews have completed installing the additional above-ground main along Exultant Drive. As pressure and water quality testing are underway for this portion of main, crews are moving ahead to Admirable Drive, where they will install more above-ground main. The new main along Exultant will be put into service after Cal Water receives favorable test results.

New Water Main Installed Between Seaview and Beach Club

Crews have also completed construction of the new above-ground water main in the median along the Palos Verdes Drive South frontage, between Seaview and Portuguese Bend Beach Club. Additional water main has been installed under PV Drive South in preparation for the main installation in the Portuguese Bend Beach Club. After the above-ground water main in the Beach Club (between PV Drive South and Yacht Harbor Drive) is installed and connected, crews will pressure-test and conduct water quality testing on both water mains before placing them into service.
