Vanderlip Trail Water Main Now in Service
With four large, concrete anchors supporting our new, dual above-ground water mains, the Vanderlip Trail installation is now completed and in service. The anchors, which extend about four to five feet underground, are designed to support the weight of the water main and allow for movement through the flexible piping as the land moves. Pressure-reducing valves were also installed as part of this project. Following favorable pressure and water quality test results, crews tied the new main into the water system last week. Crews now plan to install about 30 concrete pillars along the water main alignment to help minimize swaying the new mains may experience from land movement.
Crews Near Completion on PBCA Water Main Replacement
As of October 28, all of the new water main and pressure-reducing valves originally planned for the Portuguese Bend Community Association have now been installed. The new water main above the lower Narcissa Drive bend is already in service. The most recently installed main along the lower portion of Narcissa Drive is currently undergoing pressure and water quality testing, after which it will be tied into the water system.
Additionally, we recently received HOA approval by the Portuguese Bend Community Association to install about 400 feet of above-ground water main in the “5 corners” vicinity, where Narcissa Drive, Cinnamon Lane, and Ginger Root Lane meet. Materials have been ordered, and construction will begin after materials have been received.
Above-Ground Main Installations Completed in Seaview
Since last month’s newsletter, we received satisfactory water quality and pressure test results for the additional above-ground water main installed along Admirable Drive. The new main was put into service in late September.
Beach Club-Area Main Installations Completed
Over the past month, crews both began and completed construction of the new, above-ground water main along Yacht Harbor Drive, near Spindrift Drive. Following receipt of satisfactory pressure and water quality test results, crews tied the new main into the system last week.
Additionally, the above-ground main installed along the Palos Verdes Drive South frontage—between the Portuguese Bend Beach Club and Seaview—was pressure-tested and water quality-tested. After receiving favorable test results, crews put the new main in service in mid-October.
