Water Main Replacement Project Completed in Redwood City

NewsCal Water has completed an infrastructure improvement project to enhance system reliability and fire protection for Redwood City residents, businesses, and first responders.

The project, which began in November, included the installation of 1,500 feet of new 8-inch PVC water main to replace the existing, aging main on Oakside Avenue, from Fair Oaks Avenue to Northside Avenue. Crews also installed four additional fire hydrants to improve fire protection in the area.

“This infrastructure upgrade ensures we can continue to deliver a reliable and safe water supply to our Redwood City customers, and also provide firefighters with the water they need to protect our community during an emergency,” said District Manager Dawn Smithson. “These improvements are part of our promise to provide quality, service, and value to our customers and communities.”

Crews have completed water quality testing and connected individual water service connections to the new main. Additionally, crews recently restored all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction.
