Cal Water reopened its Customer Center in Oroville at 2 p.m. this afternoon, after the Butte County Sheriff reduced the evacuation order for Oroville residents to an evacuation warning. The evacuation order had been in place since Sunday due to damage at the Oroville Dam’s emergency spillway.
According to District Manager Toni Ruggle, the utility’s first concern was for the safety of its customers and employees. Additionally, the utility made significant preparations to ensure that the water system continued to operate properly during this time and in the event the situation worsened. The office is now open for customers who need assistance with their water service.
“Protecting the health and safety of our customers and employees is our highest priority, and while the evacuation order may have been inconvenient, we are glad that everyone is safe,” said Ruggle. “We will continue to monitor our water system and the situation at the spillway closely, and are prepared to act quickly should the need arise again. In the meantime, welcome home.”
