Approximately 150 local residents who had saved at least the original State-mandated water-use reduction of 28 percent during this drought attended Cal Water’s Customer Appreciation Day event at Willows Memorial Hall on Wednesday, May 25. Customers who had stayed within their water budgets cumulatively from June 2015 through February 2016 were invited to engage in interactive water conservation games and activities, learn about water-efficient irrigation, take home water conservation kits and drought-tolerant plants, have dinner, and enjoy other activities.
“Cal Water commends our Willows customers for their exceptional response to the drought, and we wanted to take this opportunity to thank them and let them know how much we appreciate their hard work,” said Willows Local Manager Geoff Fulks. “Thanks to their efforts, we surpassed the State’s original target for our community of 28 percent.”
Fulks praised residents in attendance for being leaders in conservation. Willows Mayor Gary Hansen presented a proclamation to Cal Water and its customers for their achievements.
Activities included conservation-themed games and activities, such as creating miniature conservation gardens and assembling customized conservation kits with high-efficiency plumbing retrofit devices to take home. Other activities included Plinko for prizes, balloon animals, and face painting.
