Water System Reliability Project Starts in Rolling Hills

Cal Water has begun an important water main replacement project in Rolling Hills that will keep water service in the area reliable. The upgrade will ensure customers continue to have the water they need for their everyday and emergency needs.

The project, which will take approximately 12 weeks to complete, includes the installation of 4,160 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron water main and 50 individual customer service connections. Additionally, crews will replace nine aging fire hydrants to improve first responders’ access to water. Installation will take place from 1 to 44 Chuckwagon Road and 1 to 35 Chesterfield Road.

“As essential service workers, our crews are committed to always delivering quality, service, and value to our Rolling Hills customers,” said District Manager Dan Armendariz. “This infrastructure upgrade will enable us to continue providing a reliable supply of safe, high-quality water to customers, both now and for years to come, and ensure first responders have the water they need to protect the community in an emergency.”

Crews are working to minimizing traffic delays and any other temporary inconvenience during construction, which is taking place Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Following installation, crews will conduct water quality testing and connect individual customer service connections to the new water main. Water service must be briefly interrupted as crews connect customer service connections to the main; however, Cal Water will notify residents in advance of any planned shutdowns, which are normally scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. All streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction will be restored to as close to the previous condition as possible.
