New Infrastructure Upgrade Delivers Safe, Reliable Water Service to Hamilton City Residents

Cal Water began a water infrastructure upgrade this week in Hamilton City that will strengthen water system reliability and infrastructure resiliency for customers’ everyday needs and firefighters’ emergency needs.

The project, which is expected to be completed in January, includes the installation of 3,230 feet of new 6-inch and 8-inch PVC water main and 35 new individual customer service connections. Crews will also install five new fire hydrants in coordination with the Hamilton City Fire Protection District to improve access for first responders. Installation will take place on Capay Avenue, between 1st Street and 3rd Street; Los Robles Avenue, between 1st Street and West 4th Street; and 2nd Street, between the Capay Avenue alley and Los Robles Avenue.

This infrastructure upgrade will also ensure firefighters have the water they need to protect the community in an emergency,” said District Manager George Barber. “Strategic, proactive infrastructure upgrades such as this are an important part of our promise to deliver quality, service, and value to our customers.”

Work will be performed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Crews will make every effort to minimize traffic delays during construction, particularly during school start and end times for work taking place near Hamilton Elementary School.

Following installation, crews will conduct water quality testing and connect individual customer service connections to the new water main. Water service must be briefly interrupted as service lines are connected to the new main. Cal Water will notify residents in advance of any planned shutdowns, which are normally scheduled during regular work hours. All streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction will be restored to as close to the previous condition as possible.
