In order to enhance fire protection and help prevent water service interruptions for Kernville residents due to potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs by electric utilities this summer, Cal Water has completed an water infrastructure upgrade at its station on Juniper Drive.
As part of the project, crews installed a new propane-powered generator and propane-fuel tank. The 45-kilowatt power generator will also strengthen water system reliability and infrastructure resiliency for years to come.
“This additional backup power supply will enable us to continue to deliver a reliable supply of safe, high-quality drinking water to our customers in an area with a long history of power outages. Additionally, it will help first responders protect the community in the event of an emergency,” said Local Manager Jon Yasin. “Proactive upgrades such as this are an essential part our promise to deliver quality, service, and value to Kernville residents and businesses.”
