Construction of New Water Facilities Completed in Woodside

Cal Water has completed a water infrastructure upgrade in the Old La Honda Road community in Woodside that will strengthen water system reliability and infrastructure resiliency for customers’ everyday needs and firefighters’ emergency needs.

The project included the construction of two 64,000-gallon water storage tanks and installation of two new 40-horsepower booster pumps. The new storage tanks replaced two aging, 20,000-gallon tanks at the site. The additional storage capacity will provide first responders with access to significantly more water in the event of an emergency. Additionally, the new, high-capacity booster pumps will support the high pressure demands due to the local topography.

“We are pleased to kick off the new year with an expanded station that will enable us to continue to deliver both a reliable supply of safe, high-quality drinking water to Woodside residents and additional resources to firefighters protecting our community,” said District Manager Dawn Smithson. “These investments in our water system are an important part of our promise to deliver quality, service, and value to our Woodside community, both now and for decades to come.”

Crews will complete the remaining work at the site, including demolition of the old storage tanks and pavement of the driveway, in the spring, weather permitting.
