Cal Water has completed an infrastructure improvement project in Montebello, Calif., that will enhance system reliability and minimize potential water main leaks for local residents and businesses.
The upgrade included installation of 1,605 feet of new 12-inch ductile-iron water main and 1,691 feet of 24-inch cement-coated and lined water main on Garfield Avenue, Via Paseo, and Lincoln Avenue. While the existing lines were in an easement on a hill and between homes, the new water mains were moved to the street to improve maintenance access and avoid any property damage that could result from a water main break.
“This investment in the water system infrastructure will ensure our community has safe and reliable water service, for both customers’ everyday needs and firefighters to protect them in an emergency, for decades to come,” said District Manager James Crawford. “This upgrade is just one way we’re delivering on our promise to provide quality, service, and value to our Montebello customers.”
