Utility Urges Residents and Motorist to Utilize Alternative Routes, Will Work to Reduce Temporary Traffic Impacts
Cal Water is beginning a water main replacement project this week along the 5th Street and J Street corridors in Marysville that will improve water system reliability to the community. During construction, Cal Water expects construction activities to cause temporary traffic delays; the utility encourages residents and motorists to use detours and be prepared for additional driving time.
Cal Water is installing approximately 1,300 feet of new water main as part of this infrastructure improvement project. On Wednesday, March 7, the work will include crossing 5th Street at Olive Street to install a section of the water main. Drivers in the area should anticipate significant delays between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., while this work is being done. Cal Water will utilize traffic control, including signs, cones, flaggers, and message boards, to minimize traffic impacts and keep motorists and construction crews safe.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while we undertake this critical water infrastructure upgrade that will benefit the entire area, which also includes the city’s Riverfront Park,” said Local Manager Robert Thompson. “This new infrastructure will improve system reliability and ensure our customers continue to receive safe and clean water for everyday and emergency needs, both now and for generations to come.”
