Water for Cal Water customers is safe

With the State Auditor’s report about drinking water safety in failing water systems, some Cal Water customers may be confused about the safety of our water. Please be assured that the water Cal Water customers receive is safe and clean to use and drink. We have a rigorous water treatment, testing, and monitoring program to ensure the water we deliver to our customers always meets all state and federal water quality standards.

Protecting our customers’ health and safety is our highest priority, and we believe that everyone should have the same access to water that is safe, clean, reliable, and affordable that our customers have. Expeditious state funding is critical either to help struggling water systems meet that need themselves or to consolidate those failing water systems with high-functioning water systems, which enables the larger, high-functioning systems to resolve the smaller systems’ issues and keep rates affordable through the economies of scale created. As we have done in the past, Cal Water stands ready to aid such systems where feasible and with support from the State Board.
