Water Infrastructure Upgrade on Wilson Road Completed
Cal Water is committed to ensuring critical infrastructure remains safe and reliable. To help fulfill that commitment, the company has completed a water infrastructure upgrade on Wilson Road in Bakersfield that will ensure customers and firefighters continue to have the water they need for their everyday and emergency needs.
The project, which began in July, included the installation of 820 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron water main and the reconnection of all existing fire hydrants and individual customer service connections. Installation took place on Wilson Road, from Larson Lane to Chandler Court.
“This important infrastructure upgrade will ensure our customers in Bakersfield continue to have a reliable supply of safe, high-quality water for their drinking, cooking, handwashing, and other household needs, both now and for generations to come. Additionally, it will help first responders protect the community in an emergency,” said District Manager Tammy Johnson. “As essential service workers, Cal Water’s employees are committed to our promise to deliver quality, service, and value to the residents and businesses we serve.”
Following installation, crews conducted water quality testing before connecting existing individual customer service lines to the new water main. Crews also restored all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction.
