New Water Main Installation Begins in Carson

Cal Water has started a water infrastructure upgrade in Carson as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to ensuring critical infrastructure remains safe and reliable. The upgrade will ensure customers and firefighters continue to have the water they need for their everyday use and during an emergency.

The project, which began this week and is expected to be completed in August, includes the installation of 3,850 feet of new 8-inch PVC water main on East Dominguez St., South Baltic Ave., South Caspian Ave., South Adriatic Ave., and East Van Buren Street.

“Our crews work hard every day to deliver quality, service, and value to our customers and firefighters,” said District Manager Dan Armendariz. “This important infrastructure upgrade will enable us to keep delivering the reliable supply of safe, high-quality water that Carson residents and businesses count on for their drinking, cooking, handwashing, and other household needs, and ensure first responders have the water they need to protect the community.”

Crews will make every effort to minimize traffic delays and any temporary service interruptions during construction, which will be performed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Residents will be notified in advance of any planned shutdowns, which are normally scheduled during regular work hours.

Following construction, crews will conduct water quality testing before connecting existing individual customer service lines to the new water main. Crews will also restore all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction.
