Installation of New Water Main Begins in Lloyden Park Area

As part of its commitment to ensuring critical infrastructure remains safe and reliable, Cal Water has started a water infrastructure upgrade in the Llodyen Park part of North Fair Oaks to ensure local customers and firefighters continue to have the water they need for their everyday and emergency needs.

The project, which is expected to be completed in July, includes the installation of 1,256 feet of new 6-inch PVC water main and the upgrade of 66 individual customer service connections. Crews will also install two new fire hydrants and three fire services to improve access for firefighters. Installation will take place on Loyola Avenue, between Glendale Avenue and El Camino Real.

“This important infrastructure upgrade is part of our continued promise to deliver quality, service, and value to North Fair Oaks residents and businesses, both now and for many years to come. Additionally, it will help first responders protect the community in an emergency,” said District Manager Dawn Smithson. “As essential service workers, our crews will continue working to provide a reliable supply of safe, high-quality water to our customers for their drinking, cooking, handwashing, and other household needs.”

Crews will make every effort to minimize traffic delays during construction, which will be performed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Crews will also work to minimize any temporary service interruptions so that residents continue to have the water they need during this time. Residents will be notified in advance of any planned shutdowns, which are normally scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Crews will continue to observe additional safety measures to protect against the spread of the coronavirus.

Following installation, crews will conduct water quality testing before connecting existing individual customer service lines to the new water main. Crews will also restore all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction.
