Pump Station Renovations in Bayshore District Completed

Cal Water has completed a water infrastructure project to upgrade the utility’s pump station on Hilltop Drive in San Carlos. With this major infrastructure upgrade complete, residents will see immediate service improvements, including more consistent water pressure. The upgrade will also improve water flow for fire-related emergencies and ensure a reliable supply of high-quality water is readily available to meet the community’s needs at all times.

The project, which began in January 2017, had multiple components, including the demolition of an old concrete tank that had been out of service and the construction of the new pump station building. Crews then installed three new booster pumps and a new surge tank. Additionally, approximately 500 feet of 3-inch Steel, 4-inch Cast Iron, and 6-inch Cast Iron water main surrounding the station site, which dated back to the 1930s, was replaced with new 6-inch PVC main.

“This project was a key component of our infrastructure improvement program to enhance water supply reliability, and we are pleased that the community will begin to see its immediate benefit,” said District Manager Ross Moilan. “We recognize that extensive projects like these can have temporary impacts on the community, and we appreciate our neighbors for understanding the importance of this renovation.”
