Infrastructure Upgrade to Begin in the Town of Woodside

Cal Water will begin an infrastructure improvement project on May 15 to replace aging water storage and booster pump facilities at its station located at 503 Old La Honda Road. The upgrade will improve water supply reliability, increase storage in the event of an emergency, and better support peak demand in the town of Woodside.

Crews will construct new facilities that include two 64,000-gallon, bolted-steel tanks, two booster pumps, retaining walls, and associated electrical and site improvements. Construction will occur Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Trucks will be restricted to the hours between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Old La Honda Road. There will be periods with no active construction, such as when Cal Water performs water quality sample testing to ensure that the water meets all federal and state standards. The entire project is expected to be completed by February 2018.

“This project is an important investment in ensuring our community continues to have a reliable supply of high-quality water for generations to come,” said District Manager Dawn Smithson. “Our crew will make every effort to minimize noise, dust, and traffic delays for our neighbors during construction; it’s part of our promise to provide quality, service, and value.”
