Emergency Water Utility Support to Sunnyvale Residents

As the City of Sunnyvale (City) prepares for an expected work stoppage on Monday, May 1, the City has engaged neighboring water utility Cal Water to ensure that residents served by the City will not be impacted by any water-related emergencies during the labor dispute.

As water utility service is considered a critical service, the City of Sunnyvale requested assistance from Cal Water ahead of the work stoppage to help address any related emergency that may occur. Cal Water serves a separate portion of Sunnyvale, which is unaffected by this issue.

According to Ron Richardson, Cal Water’s Los Altos District Manager, the utility’s focus is on Sunnyvale residents as the City and Sunnyvale Employees Association work to resolve remaining issues.

“Protecting residents’ health and safety is our top priority,” Richardson said. “We will provide any emergency support needed to ensure Sunnyvale residents continue to receive a reliable supply of high-quality water during this time.”
