NE/NW Bakersfield: Potential odor in water
Some Cal Water customers may temporarily experience a different odor to their water, due to seasonal algae in the Kern River, from which both our wholesale surface water supplier Kern County Water Agency and we obtain water. We and KCWA then treat the water to make it safe to use and drink. While unpleasant, please be assured that this odor is an aesthetic issue only; we rigorously monitor water quality, and your water continues to meet all federal and state standards set to protect public health.
In the meantime, you can refrigerate an open pitcher of water, which will help the odor dissipate faster. If it does not clear or you have any concerns, please Contact Us.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience during this time.
